Benefits of studying abroad
Looking to study abroad? Perhaps you have just finished high school and want to take a year off before pursuing higher education in the US, then check out your options in studying abroad. Or maybe you are a college/university student with the interest of checking out a new country, language and culture? Then studying abroad will also benefit you!
The benefits of studying abroad are plenty. Firstly you will get to see another country. By living in another country you will have to learn another language. As a foreigner to that country you will learn about their culture and should try to acculturate as much as possible to it to get the most out of it. There will be new kinds of food, sounds and smells then what you are used to from home. It is a large step to take and get out of your comfort zone, but it will be well worth it. Once your time studying abroad has come to an end you will have gathered a memorable experience to take back home with you. Perhaps while studying abroad you found a job—that would be great work experience for your resume to show you were able to live and work abroad!
As a college/university student, you might want to check with our home institution to see if the credits you earn from the courses abroad will transfer over or what you can do about the home institutions tuition while abroad. By studying abroad you are broadening your horizons. There are many study abroad programs either funded at the federal level or privately. Check with the State Department of programs they support to go abroad with. Otherwise see what programs are being advertised at your school. By studying abroad you will meet new friends, learn a new culture and either improve or start a new language.
