If you are thinking of studying in Germany and do not already live there, you may wonder where it is located. Germany is a country located in Europe, specifically Central Europe. Its northern border is with the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. The countries that border Germany are Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.
As you can imagine with all those countries bordering Germany there are more than enough destinations to visit on vacation. Depending on where in the country you will be staying it can take 5+ hours to leave the country. While looking into studying abroad in Germany, you will be able to visit other countries in Europe quickly and easily as they are not located too far away. However if you are on the border to one of these other countries, then you have an advantage in visiting it more often.
Germany is a member of the European Union, which 26 other countries are members of. It is known to have the largest population in the European Union with 82 million inhabitants. The population has various ethnicities and observed religions. Germany is broken into 16 different states. Each of the state has its own flag and food/beer specialty. Bonn once was its capital, but once the wall fell in the East, Berlin has been named the new capital.
Germany has been recognized as a leader in the sciences and technology, which can be seen from the pharmaceutical industry. Germany has a good history of advances in science. Besides that, there is a high standard of living in Germany and it has a well comprehensive social security system. Despite the high standard of living in Germany, it still remains lower than that in the US. Germany is known for giving consumers the respective prices for goods and services which equates the quality.
