Visiting a business school is one of the opportunities a high school student can do in determining where to go after high school to study. When looking to study abroad, you will want to check what options are available. If you are planning to study business abroad, then check the rankings and reputations of the school. Other criteria you should look at in determining a business school is if it offered publicly or privately, as both can have differences in prices and quality of education.
In Germany the business schools are divided in the public and the private sectors. The most important public business schools are those from the Universities of Mannheim, Münster, Cologne and Munich. The best known private business schools are the EBS (European Business School) in Oestrich-Winkel, the WHU (Otto Beisheim School of Management) in Vallendar and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management which focuses on the financial sector. It would be good to research these top business schools and see which one is a good pick for you.
The differences between the private and public schools are on one hand the tuition fees, which are much higher at private schools than at public and on the other hand the smaller groups of students during the lecture at private schools. You may want to consider how you best learn—either in a large group or a smaller group when also determining which business school to go to. In the media the private schools are often criticized for creating Elite, because only students from financially well-off families have the opportunity to study there.
Furthermore private schools do a lot of networking, which offers students the opportunity to get better internships and jobs easier than in public universities. Networking by alumni helps the business school’s reputation by not only educating leaders, but also get a return in the investment in that student when they come back and offer jobs or internships for other students at the school. Check and see what kind of support they offer students looking for jobs and how active the alumni are in the school.
